The Preacher Says…

We are counting down for our Friend Day with Bobby South. The purpose of this day or any day is to glorify God. So start making those phone calls. And, especially now, start praying that March 7 is a grand success to His glory.

I know that many of our members are burdened with a tremendous load on their shoulders. Let’s try to encourage everyone whenever possible. We are hit daily with bad news. So, let’s continue to lift these folks up to God!

I am thankful for the great attitude that seems to be growing in this church family. Could it be that we are learning that it’s not about us but about Him?

ARE YOU PLUGGED IN?

By Keith Bellamy

Have you ever forgotten to plug an appliance in that you wanted to use? Several years ago I was speaking on a Sunday evening in South Texas and my wireless microphone had a remote control for me to turn it on. I pushed the button when it was time for me to speak and when I took the microphone back into my office I realized that I had left the batteries out. And then there was a time in West Virginia when I was at a funeral home and there was a power failure. The funeral home owner’s wife looked at me and said she was going upstairs to get some fans since it was getting warm. She started to leave and then looked at me and said, “You were going let me go up there to get those fans, weren’t you?” It does take electricity to operate the fans doesn’t it?

This past Sunday evening we were going to watch Silencing of God. Our media guy was out of pocket so we thought we could at least run the DVD. So, how hard was it going to be anyway? We got a picture but no sound. Afterwards we realized the sound was turned off. It has to be turned on to work.

We have an incredible opportunity to reach out to our friends and neighbors with the gospel of Jesus Christ. However, I wonder if we have forgotten to be plugged into the real power source. Romans 1:16 says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” It is my understanding that the word for power is the word we get our word, dynamite from. Now that makes the Gospel very powerful.

Romans 8:11, says, If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. Now that is real power!

My question to you is ARE YOU PLUGGED IN!

SCRIPTURE FOR THE WEEK

Acts 22:16 "'And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.'
