Remembering the bad from the past is an easy thing to do. But what about remembering the good?
I attended a funeral for a brother in Christ this past Tuesday. His family and mine go back over 51 years. He gave me my first real job, and then he gave Diane and me a TV stand for our first TV when we were newly married. He and his wife were always kind to us. So, I choose to remember all of the good they have done.
Can we all do that? Remember the good! The past is past. 2008 has come and gone. We do not know what lies ahead of us. But, we do know Who is in charge, don't we? So, let's start praying, if we haven't already. Let's start reading the scriptures daily, if we haven't already. Let's start putting Him first, if we haven't already.
Remember the GOOD. That's the way our Lord operated and still operates. Let's be like Him!

“I KNOW WHO HOLDS TOMORROW”
(Song by Ira Stanphill)
Notice the words:
“I don't know about tomorrow, I just live from day to day. I don't borrow from its sunshine, For its skies may turn to gray. I don't worry o'er the future, For I know what Jesus said, And today I'll walk beside Him, For He knows what is ahead
Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand; But I know Who holds tomorrow, And I know Who holds my hand.
Ev'ry step is getting brighter, As the golden stairs I climb; Ev'ry burden's getting lighter; Ev'ry cloud is silver lined. There the sun is always shining, There no tear will dim the eye, At the ending of the rainbow, Where the mountains touch the sky.
Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand; But I know Who holds tomorrow, And I know Who holds my hand.
I don't know about tomorrow, It may bring me poverty; But the One Who feeds the sparrow, Is the One Who stands by me. And the path that be my portion, May be through the flame or flood, But His presence goes before me, And I'm covered with His blood.
Many things about tomorrow, I don't seem to understand; But I know Who holds tomorrow, And I know Who holds my hand.”
There is a safety and security in Christ that those who don't know Him will never understand. I love what Jesus said in John 10:27-29 because it speaks of Who holds our hand. "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand" (NKJV).
No matter what comes our way in the "New Year," we can stand secure because we know Who holds tomorrow--and we know Who holds our hand!
