Woodville is a nice community and we want you to be a part of our church family. We are attempting
to share the message of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We ask that you consider the following that we believe comes directly from the Bible: We believe
that we need to be interested in two things: obeying the word of God, and sharing the word with others.

We certainly don’t claim to be perfect. We are trying to follow the One and Only PERFECT SAVIOR!

THE ORIGIN OF THE CHURCH

1.  The Fulfilled Prophecies:

We believe the Bible teaches the church began according to the promise of Christ (Matthew
16:18), on the first Pentecost after the resurrection of Jesus (Acts 2). At that time, in that place
and manner the church began as foretold by the prophets (Isaiah 2:1-4; Daniel 2:44) and
continues to this very day (Hebrews 12:28). The Bible teaches that the word of God is the seed
of the Kingdom (Luke 8:11), and when sown in honest hearts it will produce children of God
(Luke 8:4-15). The Bible only, produces Christians only, and only Christians. We have the
same saving gospel today that the apostle Peter preached on the day of Pentecost, and get the
same results (Acts 2:37-47). Since the church is built by preaching only the word of Christ, and
guided and governed by His Word (Matthew 26:28; Hebrews 9:15-16; Hebrews 10:9-10), the
church was not denomination, nor should it be now.

2.  The Foundation:

We believe the Bible teaches that the church is founded on Christ (1 Corinthians 3:11),
and no other. We gladly wear His name (Romans 16:16). The disciples were called Christians
first in Antioch (Acts 11:26; 1 Peter 4:16). Other terms used to describe Christians are "brethren"
(Hebrews 3:1, "saints" (1 Corinthians 1:1-2), and "children of God" (1 John 3:1-2). We wear
the name Christian.

3.  The Government:

Since the church belongs to Christ, we believe it should not be a denomination! It is subject
only to Christ without a hierarchy or earthly headquarters. Christ is the head of the church
(Ephesians 1:21-23). Each congregation was overseen by local elders (Acts 20:28; Hebrews
13:17; 1 Timothy 3:1-ff). There is no authority for anything else in the teachings of Jesus
Christ (2 John 9; Matthew 15:14-15).

THE PURPOSE OF THE CHURCH

1.  To Uphold The Truth:

We believe the Bible teaches that the church, is the pillar and ground of the truth ( 1 Timothy
3:14). We must teach only the truth in order for all to be made free from sin and error (John 8:31-37). This same truth teaches us how to worship and how to live (John 4:24; 2 Peter 1:1-3). We believe the Bible teaches that truth is found only in the word of God (John 17:17), the gospel.

2.  To Show God's Way:

Christians must be God's salt and light to preserve and guide everyone on the road of life
(Matthew 5:13-16). Members of the church are: "...a chosen generation, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called
you out of darkness (Ephesians 6:10-12).

3.  To Bear Fruit:

We must help each other grow and mature in Christ (Ephesians 4:11-16; 2 Corinthians 1:5-11). We are to have the mind of Christ (Philippians 2:5). We are motivated by His examples of kindness and compassion toward others (Matthew 25:31-ff).

THE MISSION OF THE CHURCH

We believe the Bible teaches the mission of the church is set forth in the Great Commission:
"Go into all the world and preach the gospel..." (Mark 16:15-16). "...teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I command you." (Matthew 28:20).

1.   The Plan of Salvation:

We believe people become members of the church the same way today as they did in the
first century. They must hear the truth (Romans 1:16; 10:17; John 8:32), believe that Jesus
Christ is God's Son, our Savior (John 8:24). The believer must then confess his faith in
Christ (Romans 10:9-10) and be buried (immersed in water) in baptism for the remission of
sins (Acts 2:38; Romans 6:3-4). Thus being born again (John 3:3-5) one is added to the
church: "And the Lord added to them day by day those that were saved." (Acts 2:47).

2.   Worship:

The Bible teaches us that New Testament worship consisted of: the partaking of the Lord's
Supper on the first day of every week (Acts 20:7). Prayers are offered and the pure gospel
is preached (Acts 2:42).

THE DESTINY OF THE CHURCH

1.   Heaven-Bound:

"He is the Savior of the body which is the church" (Ephesians 1:23; 5:25). The Lord will
receive His people in heaven (John 14:1-3; Revelation 21-22). The gates of hell will not
prevail against the church (Matthew 16:18). Jesus will come in the clouds to receive us unto
Himself (1 Thessalonians 4:17-19).

2.   The Final Victory:

This is a story with a happy ending! God's people will be saved and you can have your
name written in the Lamb's book of life (Revelation 21:27).
