Mothers Are Special

By Keith Bellamy

Abraham Lincoln once said, "All that I am, or can be, I owe to my angel mother." John Gray said, "The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world." Napoleon Bonaparte said, "Let France have good mothers, and she will have good sons." And how about this Spanish proverb -- "An ounce of mother is worth a pound of clergy."

We notice in 2 Timothy 1:5, “I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.” Likewise, I can say that I am reminded of my faith which first lived in my great-grandmother, Annie, my grandmother Lois, my grandmother Emma and my mother Geneva.

You see --their legacy goes on.

However, there comes a time when I must stand on my own faith. Neither my great grandmother’s, my grandmother’s nor my sainted mother’s faith assures me of a place in heaven. My faith in Jesus does.

Mothers are special though! There is hardly a day that goes by that I don’t think of my mother. She’s been with the Lord for over seventeen years now.

So, we hope you use this Sunday to celebrate your mother’s life. If she is still living, tell her you love her. And then give God the glory from Whom all good things come.
